I love this place as well. It's the best Chinese food on the Hill. It can be pricey, but the food has a consistent flavor. I personally like the Kung Pao chicken. For some reason, other restaurants have a salty version of it. Fu Yuan Low's has a sweeter flavor. The Mu Shu pork is also good.
The service is nice, and it's a great fixture in PV.
I love this place. Hand's down love it. I used to live nearby, now I live down in San Diego and I will still drive *all the way* up there just for this food. Maybe it's been sprinkled with crack?
The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance, it's not usually crowded when I'm there. I love their huge fish tank.
They make a fantastic mai tai! I also am a huge fan of those beef skewers that come with a lil roasting set at the table, anything that lets me play with fire is a good thing (not to mention they're delicious even to-go). I *love* their sweet & sour chicken. This restaurant has long been my standard for that dish and no one else measures up.

It's basic and pretty mediocre. I've had way better Chinese food elsewhere, but this is the only local Chinese restaurant (unless Panda Express at the market counts, and it doesn't). The food isn't really consistent in the quality - I've had really good meals, and really bad. We haven't ordered from here in a long time because the last time wasn't good. But we/I had a craving for Hot & Sour Soup tonight, so we gave it another shot. Today was a good day for Fu Yuan Low!
Good Mandain cuisine and has some decently priced lunch specials. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night expect a wait. But they have a full bar to make that wait a little more pleasamt.
The food here is very eclective with plenty of choices. You might want to consider getting it to go unless you don't mind dining with PV's ultra-rich 80 year old dinosuars sporting 20 yo mail order brides. Because for some reason this does seem to be the place where " trophy wifes" are always on display.
When dining here my suggestions would be to order the family meals that come with appetizers, soup and an array of entrees.
Lunch specials are by far the best deal here and a fraction of the cost although IMO they do not compare with the dinners and the choices are limited.
The shrimp in garlic sauce is delicious and are the appetizers are superb. Some other reccommended choices would be the Mongolian beef, Kung Pao chicken and Shrimp in lobster sauce. They also serve a very good version of Wor Wanton soup,.
Although a little pricey it's well worth it for the quality of the food served and I highly suggest this place. They also do deliver locally,

This is a true story... My brother lives a half mile from this restaurant and he was pretty excited when he discovered they deliver. One evening he was extra tired and tried to order chow mein and a beef dish. The lady on the phone said, we can't deliver your meal, because we have a $20 minimum. So, he trekked over to the restaurant and when he went to pay, the lady said, that will be $19.64 please.
Well needless to say, my brother has banned us from entering this establishment. It's too bad, I heard the food is pretty good!

They really need a half-star option here. I want to give Fu Yuan Low 3.5 stars for being edible and consistent. It's not really worth a full 4- stars but I think a 3-star might be a bit miserly for what really is a local institution.
I've been coming here ever since I was a wee tot and their food hasn't changed a bit. Not that it needs to, it fills the neighborhood Chinese restaurant niche in this area as well as could be expected.
For those of you who've eaten a lot of different Chinese food, expect the more Americanized versions of dishes and nothing too exotic on the menu. This is about as "whitewashed" as the cuisine gets without losing its inherent charm. Not necessarily a bad thing, and you can't really expect homestyle/backcountry Chinese cooking in a town with PV's demographic (White and median age 55+)
However, Fu Yuan Low always has good service, the food is eerily consistent, the ingredients are always fresh, and its family friendly.
By far, the best bang for your buck at FYL would be the lunch specials featuring any of the varieties of shrimp. Very well done here; fresh, firm, crunchy, for $7.

as good as yang chao in china town....
it is probably because i have been eating here since i was five, but in my mind this is what i expect yummy chinese food to taste like! to me they make the best kung pao chicken ever! in my experience a lot of places will skimp on meat and you end up getting more bell pepper or onions than meat; this is meat, sauce, peanuts, and just the right amount of green onions and spicy peppers...also the aromatic chicken or shrimp is super tasty, and the hot and sour soup is good...the lunch special is a great deal, and they phased out the creepy chicken drumstick in the last few years in favor of an egg roll instead haha bonus points there...servers are friendly and good about refills....the 80's decor is comforting and makes me nostalgic for my childhood (like most of us probably =)
I've been coming here since I was a wee little thing. Super fast service, great food, and pretty inexpensive. Like Aly D says, great lunch specials. They deliver for free if you live in the area and even bring you a wax baggie full of those little crunchy things that they have at the table while you wait the full 4 minutes for your food when you dine in. True, the interior looks like it walked straight out of 1984 with pink and teal booths, but that kind of appeals to me. (is that weird?)

fanfreakingtastic lunch specials. for 6.95 you get soup (hot and sour or wonton), salad, rice (fried or steamed), an egg roll, and your choice of a variety of chinese dishes such as mongolian beef, beef with broccoli, orange chicken... etc. oh and did i mention an endless pot of hot tea? yum. the service is fast and efficient. the staff is amiable and pretty good with remembering to fill up your water and get you some more tea. you really can't beat this lunch deal for the amount of food that you get it. it hits the spot.
