Recently went to Trio for breakfast.  Not only did they serve us early (the restaurant looked open, still had about a half hour til official opening), but the waitress was very accommodating to our party of six.

The little bowl of cream of wheat= amazing!

I had an eggs benedict dish with tomatoes- wonderful!  My husband had a similar dish- slightly different- he loved it as well.  My mother in law and sister in law split this bagel spread that came with three different soft cheeses, lox, etc.  Loved it too!  Pictures put up!

Trio is awesome. It's usually pretty empty but it's not really as mediterranean as other restaurants but they have a great variety on the menu. I've gotten everything from tandoori chicken to caprese. The prices are decent, the pita chips are amazing and it's a nice, quaint little restaurant.

Is everyone reviewing this place on crack?

This place is horrible and not authentic Mediterranean food at all.  The pita was oily, the hummus completely tasteless, the stuffed grape leaves again...oily.  And the pita chips were oily...ew.

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because their waitstaff was friendly.

My recommendation: get off your lazy butt and go down the hill to Aristo Cafe in Torrance.  Much MUCH better food and you're still supporting a local business.

As Joan S. mentioned, on Sundays, during the PV Farmer's Market, they wheel a cart out and cook Paella on the sidewalk. Once a month, when the Farmer's Market allows the crafters to show, I usually have a booth for my handcrafted product line, and I am always next to the cart. They start sauteeing the garlic at 9 a.m., and while that might sound gross, since I've been up since 5 a.m., it's actually pretty delicious. By 10:30 a.m., I can't take it anymore and order a Paella! It's so delicious (with a little hot sauce!).

As for the restaurant for regular dining, there's not a lot of options for dining on the hill, but this is a decent one. It's easy and inexpensive.  I've been many times for lunch and dinner, and the menu is eclectic and pretty expansive. You can go fancy, or keep it simple. We sometimes forget about this place because it's in a strip mall area and a little tucked away, but it's a good option.

You can bring your own wine - corkage is $10.

Definitely one of PV's well kept secrets.  My wife and I have eaten here around 4 times or so.  It's located in a strip mall west (towards Hawthorne Blvd) from the Avenue of the Peninsula mall.  You cannot see it from the street.  There is ample parking in the large parking lot for the strip mall.

The restaurant is rather small but the decor is very nice. It's not too brightly lit, so it is somewhat romantic, just wish they had some booths (tables only when I was there).

The food is great.  They bring pita chips to you table with hummus when you first sit down.  We've tried a couple of different things but our favorites seem to be the Tandoori chicken salad and the Goat cheese pizza (they load this with roasted garlic). They also have a descent selection of wine and beer.  Service has always been excellent.

Would definitely eat there again.

[2008-04] I just have to give (3) stars to this restaurant.

I got the halibut and it was excellent however it is not authentic Mediterranean, it was served on bbq sauce.  My friend ordered the kabob (she thought it was beef but turned out it was chicken).
The menu has a large section of burgers.  More importantly, wine menu is full with California wines and just a few from Italy.  In addition, I spoke with our server and he doesn't have a clue the 'ouzo' means.

tsk tsk.. i guess i'd have to try out other mediterranean places to better compare them but for now, 3 stars.

Authentic Mediterranean cuisine.
I've been meaning to stop in here for the longest time.  Every Sunday the PV farmer's market is held in the parking lot front of the restaurant, and Trio's friendly chef is cooking up seafood paella right out there on the sidewalk.
I didn't eat much, but what I had was great.  They brought complimentary hummus with crisp pita chips to start.  After devouring that, I only wanted soup (French onion topped with Gruyere).  I did notice that the portions being served to surrounding tables were huge, just as my server said they would be.  Next time I may try the shrimp quesadilla. The sauteed pesto shrimp appetizer looked good as well.
The menu is impressive, with a good selection of steaks, chops (pork and lamb), salads, and more.
For Mediterranean food, this is the real deal.

Service, food and owner..  all above excellent!!!  Ask what the specials are and at least one of you at the table should enjoy it.  Trio also caters not only their menu but they can make anything you want.

I tried this place on a whim last night. It was deliciious! It's located in PV plaza, in between Steinmart and TJ Maxx. Odd setting for such a great restaurant. I think it is well kept secret for the Hill peeps.

I highly recommend the Tandoori chicken tostino. Also, their quesadilla was excellent.  Try washing it down with a fresh pint of Hefeweisen.

The service was great, very friendly, attentive, unpretentious (nice for PV, which can be snooty) and timely. I think this place is seriously underrated. If it were in Manhattan Beach it would be much more well known.  They have a nice selection of dishes with a middle eastern flair, but many that are California casual as well.

I will definitely be going back!

not located in the pv mall, but rather the shopping complex down the street, the trio brings great food and pretty decor in an unexpected place. my boyfriend had convinced me to try trio's after a long battle of "what are we going to eat tonight". i've kinda been weary of the restaurant not because i heard bad things about it, but because i'm weary in general of restaurants in pv. you really never know what you're going to get.
i'm so glad i went! i had a garlic shrimp pasta in a white wine sauce that was ridiculously addictive. i couldnt stop eating it. i knew i was full. i knew i was going to fall into a food coma, but i had to eat the delicious pasta with shrimp, klamata olives, feta cheese, and garlic. mmmm. my boyfriend had the ossobuco lamb that literally fell off the bone it was so tender. i stole some of his garlic mashed potatoes when he wasn't looking :).
a very nice ambience, great food, and fast service, i'm definitely going to have to come back here for the dessert. that tray looked amazing!
